Author's Visit

Wasn't author and poet Marie Harris a wonderful guest speaker? She visited each classroom, even kindergarten, and talked with all of us about some of the processes she went through to write and publish books like G is for Granite and Primary Numbers. It was fun to figure out the rhyme and meter for the poems in her books. She even asked some of us for opinions on the story she's working on now, the one about synesthesia. I never heard of synesthesia before but, like Marie Harris, I was curious about it. And I found some interesting information about it here!

Before she left, I asked Mrs. Harris to sign the library's copy of G is for Granite. And look!  She did!!  Be sure to thank Mrs. Goodnough for and Miss Holloran for bringing Marie Harris to DES!

I thoroughly enjoyed her visit as well. I liked watching the students' faces as Ms. Harris explained about errors she made with her book.

Thank you, Mrs. Landry, for giving me her name to contact.

I had a wonderful time at DES (I'm proud of my cap, too!)

I hope both students and teachers will write to me here if you'd like. I'll answer any questions, etc.

Your poet friend, Marie
